BIG NEWS for the Victoria Community Food Hub Society! đ
A provincial grant has been provided to the Food Hub through the Victoria Foundationâs Food Security Provincial Initiatives Fund!
This funding will support the final stages of infrastructure development that will jumpstart the âFood Connectionsâ project: using food rescued through the Mustard Seed Food Security Distribution Centre in addition to local produce from the South Island FarmHub, processed into added-value products and shelf-stable goods through Kitchen Connect. This project will not only divert food waste, but will provide training and employment to folks looking to gain skills in the culinary sector, with a focus on including underserved populations. This will be the connection piece between all the initiatives within the Food Hub at 808 Viewfield Road in Esquimalt- and weâre so grateful!
Big thanks to Ministers Nicholas Simons and Lana Popham for coming out and helping us celebrate the good news- now we get to work! Read the full press release here: https://news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2022SDPR0030-000751
